The appeal of a journal filled with daily routines

Pages of squared paper, colored in to show daily routines and habits—the kind you might see in a feature about keeping a journal.

I’d like to see my own records arranged that way. Keeping up with drawing them every day, though, takes effort.

What if the sleep and exercise records already in Health could create that view, without copying everything out by hand?

That’s why I made Activity Grid. It color-codes records saved in the Health app on your iPhone, making it easy to look back over your daily routines.

A view of your daily routines from existing records

If you record sleep or exercise with an Apple Watch or another source, Activity Grid can use those records to show your daily routines.

Sleep and exercise appear by time of day, alongside daily figures such as sleep duration and step count.

Changing the period or fitting it onto one screen can reveal patterns: “I was sleeping less around then” or “I’ve been walking more lately.”

Seeing the habits you’ve kept up laid out together can bring a small sense of achievement, too.

Arrange the records you want to see

A “view” brings together a selection of items and their layout. Several views are included in the gallery, ready to use or customize into your own.

Your view can focus on exercise, show only sleep, or include nutrition records. You can choose the items to suit what you want to look back on.

Before using the app

Activity Grid does not record sleep or exercise itself. It organizes and displays information already saved in the Health app.

If you already have data in Health, there is no need to import it. That data is available when you open Activity Grid.
