Divide-It! – Contact Name Divider

Divide-It! (Contact Name Divider) is a helper tool for the Contacts app on iPhone.
It lets you split a full name into Last Name and First Name.

Features:

• Divide First Name and Last Name
• Swap First Name and Last Name
• Handle both “Name” and “Phonetic Name” fields

In Japanese, people often use both the Name and Phonetic Name fields.
I’m not sure how many users in other countries need the Phonetic Name field, though.

This tool is especially useful right after importing an address book,
or when you want to tidy up your contacts from time to time.

Feature: Divide names

Some contacts already have their names split, but others don’t.

That can be a little frustrating, right?

When you start Divide-It!, the screen looks like this:

When you tap the right side of each row, the name moves one character at a time, like this:

It might not look very exciting in a screenshot,
but doing this is surprisingly satisfying…

You can also swap the first name and last name with the rounded arrow button in the center of the row.

If you want to edit the phonetic name, tap the “Phonetic Name” button in the bottom-left corner.
